Machiko Baby founder Melinda Smylie had three wishes. The first was to have a baby. The second, to have her own business so she could stay home with her baby. And the third? To find gorgeous, designer kids' clothes to provide fashion conscious parents a funky alternative to anything the major shopping centres were dishing up. All three wishes came true. Melinda now dresses her own kids in the latest stylish looks while also finding plenty of designer kids' clothes for new parents, grandparents and other gift-giving peeps!

Melinda has always had a passion for fashion. When she discovered she was pregnant she couldn't wait to dress her own little models. What Melinda also discovered was that there was very little in the way of cool clothing for kids. After trolling the big department stores and major children's wear stores, Melinda knew there was a market for exclusive designer kids' clothes. Melinda began sourcing the best brands and Machiko Baby began trading in April 2010.

It was an exciting time in Melinda's life - when she answered her first sale email, her waters broke! Ever the professional, Melinda managed to write back to her first client explaining that she was in labor and that they'd have to wait a few extra days to receive their designer kids' clothes!

Since that day of firsts, life has forever changed for Melinda. While learning the joys of motherhood, Melinda also found there are plenty of fashion-conscious Mums looking for designer kids' clothes!
